Film Design

Sets, locations, props and storyboards

March – September 2002

Working with Production Designer Bruno Rubeo on the Miramax Films production of the WW2 drama ‘The Great Raid’ designing environmental look frames and set designs for location construction.  The film was shot on location around the Gold Coast Hinterland districts of Yatala, Jacobs Well, Cedar Creek, Tamborine Mountain, Bribie Island, and Manila.

These location set layouts were designed as overview concepts for staging scenes in the movie.  Working from photocopied location scout photos and sketching over the image on trace, the set pieces were then drafted in place.  These were then re-photocopied and rendered with black and white greyscale markers and pencils and distributed after approvals to the set draftsman who worked up elevations of each building for the construction crew.
