Illustration Tic-Tac-Toe Chart

This field shows the various descriptive qualities of what illustration can do or should at least strive to accommodate in any commission. As a primary visual communication medium, illustration should be able to tick at least two of the boxes in the first six areas; that is, it requires a Measured, Tailored and Crafted response to the brief, and its outcome must at very least Educate, Demonstrate or Inform. The ultimate goal is to strike a balance with all three sets of these attributes, as it’s highly desirable to be able to gain the rarer qualities of evoking an emotional response, and to entertain or illuminate
